A Promise (Quiet) by Chicosci

What is it with ReFUCKaged albums?! Tangina I simply hate these repackaged stuff.. Makes you just download the whole album than buy it. Hello Record labels.. Please fix this. I don't know if sales boom when you release repackaged albums..

Anyway, This song A Promise does a complete 180 from the Original version. :) I would call this a more sex-friendly track I would think that this along with the lyrics is more apt compared to the heavier version. I'm not saying that I liked this version. in fact I liked the Heavier Version. :) I guess it showcases Mig's voice in a new light .. YES HE CAN SING WITHOUT SHOUTING! :) I guess they're riding the bandwagon of bossanova-ish tunes.

Listen to when: You wanna rockout, but not really :)

A Nice Place by Juan Pablo Dream

Remember those Ayala Ads that we so love? :D Well Give this group a listen and you'll remember all those ads at an instant.

I think if I remember correctly, JPD is a Philippine MOD group. I was actually surprised that this song wasn't used in any of the Ayala Ads :D hihi Hey! It's a Happy Song :) "I'm going to a nice place, A very very nice place.." complete with Trumpets etc. It's a refreshing sound amidst all the hard rock / heavy riffing going on right now :)

Listen to when: You feel like going shopping in G4 or Greenbelt :)

Welcome to the Black Parade by My Chemical Romance

What do you get when you put Queen and Greenday in a blender? :) you get My Chemical Romance... Well at least for this song.. :) It starts of with the a Marching band intro then transforms into Queen's Bohemian-like groove and then 1: 45 into the song the song changes tempo and then changes to Greenday. Excellent transition I must say, I am never a fan of emo rock but this tune really got me :)

Didn't really dig the whole Good Charlottte/ My Chemical Romance / Chicosci thing. Yes I just HAAAD to put in chicosci in there.. :) In my opinion they sound a lot emo, I'd have to admit I initially Coldplay, Travis and Radiohead were emo.. I was under the impression that Emo was somewhat "sad" since it's emotional :) yes yes I'm stupid, fuck you. :)

Listen to when: You wanna somma heada bangina actiona!

Dear Kuya by Sugarfree

Ebe Dancel has done it again.. and to think the 3rd installment Tala-Arawan was almost halted because they almost parted ways.. Luckily they will stick around at least for the meantime and share with us more ear-catching tunes.

I would think the concept for the song is a letter of a younger brother to an older sib. (DUH.. just from the title..) I like this song, and rumors have been spreading that a telco might use the song for a jingle.. after I heard about this that's when it struck me..It is jingle-friendly especially the chorus that goes.. "nasaan ka man ngayon, ano mang oras na ika'y may kailangan, tawag ka lang sa akin, at parang andito ka na rin.."

The tune is simple so simple in fact that it sounds complicated. Did I make sense?

This is actually the first track from their album. :) So when you put in the disc, You'll know that you just got your money's worth :)

Listen to when: You want to feel you're part of a commercial / campaign with a missed someone on the other line

Tiny Dancer by Elton John

1 down. 4 more to go :)

Elton John is a Rock Goddess :) His songs really stands the test of time :) Tiny Dancer is no exception :) I know I know, it's a bit cliche but hey, it's a good song. Thanks to Almost Famous which make it sky rocket even further with that bus scene where everyone just sings along, it's perfect actually because that's actually what this song is. :) it's a sing-a-long song :) actually, It doesn't sound like Elton John at all. Sorry to all musicphiles out there, but I really am not knowledgeable with music :) (I just enjoy the sound) I won't know when this song was released or if it ever hit the mainstream :) but I'm sure James Cameron decided to use it.

Listen to when: You're in a long drive and everyone is just pissed at everyone else. It will surely make them kiss and makeup. At least that's what happened in movies

I Dare You by Shinedown

Yes I know I know, I've been out of commission for the last 6 days, so I owe all of you 7 reviews :D Don't worry I plan to keep this site. So I will make up for the lost time :) Sorry for that

Anyway on with the review

here goes..

Shinedown's I Dare You, starts of with a riff that sounds very familiar, I initially thought it was Collective Soul's run.. well at least for the first 5 seconds, but give it 5 seconds more when Brent Smith starts of with.."Hello...let me introduce you to.." That's when you know this is going to be one of those songs that will just wow you, the song is pretty much like any other rock song, starts of slow and then speeds up at the chorus which makes your head flick back and rock out ;)

Perfect to listen to when: You just wanna rock out

London Beckoned Songs About Money Written By Machines by Panic! At the Disco

I am proud to say that I was listening to these guys before they hit the Philippine mainstream :) Yes I never get tired of saying that to everyone :D I distinctly remember my room mate in China asking me what the hell I was listening to and told me that the music sucked and then 5 months later told me all about this "new" band Panic! at the Disco. Well I just secretly laughed and told him.. "YOU TOLD ME THEY SUCKED BACK IN CHINA FOOL!"

Panic! at the Disco at first listen sound exactly like Fall Out Boy (Which coincidently have the same record label.) They do have their differences.. PATD is FAB + Electronica so if you liked FAB I'm sure your going to enjoy PATD

We're not here to talk about my friend, Let's talk about this track. The song starts of with a high energy riff and singer shouting... "START STALLING MAKE A NAME FOR YOURSELF..." what really caught my ear was the chorus :

"Well we're just a wet dream for the webzines,
make us it make us hip make us scene
Or. Shrug us off your shoulders.
Don't approve a single word we wrote."

I'm thinking this is a song about fame. :) and doing everything you can just to get there

Listen to when: You're on a road trip and wanna step on the Gas pedal.. OOHH YEEAAHH!

Kapalaran by Radioactive Sago Project

to Make up for yesterday's missed song review

You can always count on Radioactive Sago to give a new twist to any.. and I mean any old favorite..

Kapalaran originally by Rico J. Puno was given the Acid-Jazz with Spoken Poetry by the Radioactive Sago. The Song kicks off with some spoken words by Lourd,

"Natanggal ka sa trabaho, Naholdup ka, Iniwan ka ng misis mo, sumama sa kabarkada mo, Uminit ang ulo mo, nakaubos ka ng isang long neck na empoy, nalasing nakipagaway, nakasaksak..."

and it goes on with.."Habang inaakbayan ka sa selda ng mga kakosang nakatato hinahaplos haplos ng mayor ang buhok mo pababa... hanggang balikat.. habang binubulong.."hindi ka na malulungkot dito".."

Basically the concept that the band takes is about a convict doing something he regrets and ending up in jail with the "Mayor" just in time to give him some manly love.

Since this song is originally a love song meaning man-woman making love.. but count on Radioactive Sago to spice it up.

Excellently done. :)

Listen to when : You're thinking of commiting something against the law.. This will surely make you think twice :)

"Ibuhos na ang Beer sa aking lalamunan"

Song: Beer by The Itchyworms

I got a taste of this song when I was back in Beijing , I was constantly bugging my sister in Manila to get me a copy of their album even if it's not yet released, How should I know right? :D anyway when she did get me a copy.. I took it for a spin.. This was one of the songs that caught my attention.. It sounds a bit 70s-ish.. :) Much like when you are at a bar, feeling like a complete loser without any people and just sulking.. drinking your sorrows away.. I can only imagine my dad drinking to this when he got dumped by his x... :) that is.. if it did happen... :)

Listen to When: You are feeling a bit down and chugging a cold one :) PEERRRFECCT for those "movie time" moments..

Try listening to Beer lite (another variation of Beer) .. a bit sexier since it's 30 seconds longer than the original because of the seductive sax by I dunno who. :)

Note: This song won Song of the Year on the 2006 NU Rock Awards

"And I will Try.. to Fix you."

Hello People of the World! :D This is the debut post of my new blog

What to expect :
Basically, Since everyone I know in the blogging world is doing Album Reviews, I might as well take it a step lower. :D Everyday. Starting today, I will be doing a song review.

Yes! 1 song / day. hopefully at the end of the year.. I would have had 365 and 1/4 songs reviewed.
lets's face it.. right about now, at least 1,000,000,000,000,000 songs are out here in the internet and the other 999,999,999,999,999 haven't even been created yet. :D So I'm going to take it 1 song at a time hopefully I'm going to be a good-enough-music-critic :D since:
a.) I work for a music webzine
b.) I "borrow" and buy an average of 5 albums / week.
c.) I <3 music
d.) I want to try to review something and see how many people actually agree with me or stone me to death hihihihi.
e.) I have almost 120 Gigs of it. I guess that's motivation enough?

*note: My musical taste is not ecclectic, but I will not stick to 1 genre so don't be surprised if today I review a rock song and then tomorrow I shift it down to a love song. :)

Ok ok...

Heere goes.

Since I'm starting this thing,
Let's start with something you all know.. Coldplay's Fix you. First time I heard this song I'm like, ok, it's a nice song, nice tune, but a bit sad.. but 2:30 seconds in.. when the electric guitars come in and Chris Martin starts playing the piano and the drums bashing TOTAL EARGASMMMMMM... AAAGGGGGHHH Can I just die? I was in Awe.. It was because of this song that I started getting all of Coldplay's discs :) This is their best track to date. it starts of really slow.. but ends with a bang.. only coldplay can pull off something like this.. :)

Listen to when: You are trying to get someone to fall in love with you but it just won't happen..
